It’s been many years since we’ve had James Bennett on the Flow Bar stage, and we are beyond grateful to finally welcome him back.

James is an independent solo artist and multi-instrumentalist from Newcastle, NSW, with more than a decade of live performance and recording behind him.

Growing up on an isolated, off-grid farm inland of Byron Bay, James was raised on the music of Bob Dylan. As a kid, he would sneak his dad’s guitar from the cupboard and imitate Dylan, singing every word to every song — even fashioning his own harmonica brace from an old wire coat hanger so he could play guitar and harmonica at the same time.

That love of music turned into a career that has now seen James release four studio albums, perform around the country and work with some incredible names.

In 2017, James travelled to Hollywood, California to record his second album, Run with the Hunted, with producer and engineer Scott Campbell, whose credits include Alanis Morrissette's Jagged Little Pill and No Doubt’s Return of Saturn. His third album was recorded in New Zealand with former John Butler Trio drummer and percussionist Michael Barker.

Over the years, James has shared stages with an incredible list of Australian artists including Diesel, The Whitlams, Wendy Matthews, Daryl Braithwaite, Ian Moss, The Black Sorrows, Vika & Linda Bull, Dan Sultan and Russell Morris, as well as international artists Newton Faulkner and Canned Heat.

He’s also appeared at festivals across Australia, including Sydney Blues & Roots Festival, Airlie Beach Festival of Music, Wingham Akoostik Festival, Festival of the Sun and more.

And now, after far too long, James Bennett is coming back to Flow Bar.

We’re incredibly excited to have him back on our stage and can’t wait to share this one with you.
